Neuromod Secures €850K in Seed Funding
Irish start-up Neuromod (t/a mutebutton limited) announces it has secured a €200,000 investment from Enterprise Ireland and a further €650,000 from private investors to design and manufacture a stable clinical prototype and conduct pilot clinical studies into its new multisensory tinnitus treatment.
The company was established in 2010 by Dr Ross O’Neill, as a spin-out company from NUI Maynooth, where the technology, a novel neuromodulation device to treat tinnitus, was originally developed.
Tinnitus, commonly referred to as ‘ringing in the ears’, is the perception of an illusory low-level sound in the absence of a corresponding external stimulus to the ear.
‘This investment by Enterprise Ireland and our private investors marks a significant first milestone for the company. It will facilitate the design and manufacture of a stable clinical prototype that we will use to evaluate our unique multisensory approach to tinnitus treatment. This will be the first time that such an approach has been taken in human clinical research.,’ - Dr. Ross O'Neill.
